My first exposure to architectural education came in 2012. Seventeen and enrolled in a summer architecture program at the University of Texas at Austin, I walked into my studio to this question; rather, ellipses. The only restraint to the answer was the space on the board, because architecture is everything. It is NOT simply building buildings and it is far more than having the degree with the name on it.
Architecture is design and what is design? It is the curating of things. But what are these things? They can be object oriented, like accessories in an apartment or the design of an event hall. It can be curating the type of people you hang out with. You are the architect of your life, the way you live it, and what you place into it. What emotions you chose to emote, what clothes you put on that day, what lunch you eat… it all adds into the life you have created for yourself.
So that’s it, YOU are in control. Use that power, surround yourself with people and things that make you better. Wake up, make your bed, put on an outfit that makes you feel strong and beautiful and look around you. Is your apartment clean, is it a reflection of who you are or who you want to be?
