The barren building.... back of house, side of house… every building’s got one. In a thriving city, these sides must be left bare - free from ornament and free from window. But why create an entire face of brick?
If the side of the building contains as many windows as the heart and the market desires, when a new project is built right next to it, due to tight property lines, the once gorgeous windows and the gorgeous view will now be overridden with the face of their neighbor buildings brick wall.
But there is this awkward wait time in between the first buildings side or back face going up and the impending neighboring building. You could be staring into a wasteland for years OR you could find art. Painters (and marketers) are taking these blank canvases as billboards for art and ad.
The once barren has bared it’s fruit back to the city and once again, the art saves us.
