All We Ever Wanted is in Copenhagen

All We Ever Wanted is in Copenhagen

In a country with a smaller population than my hometown, lies a city with an even smaller population coming in around 562,379 people (according to a recent Google search). This city has a small historic town center and has grown outwards in a healthy, respectful manner. This city is Copenhagen. It is a leader in design and urban living. While you may not dub it's streets the prettiest in the world, somehow you grow to see them that way. The symphony of humans and their means of transport interacting create a buzz - they bring the streets to life.

The kids play while the adults work. The adults play in the gardens with the kids after work. The summer nights let life live on far past the 5 o'clock work end.

The cities lack of ample green on the street front is supplemented by lush gardens never more than a 15 minute walk from any point in the city. Walk into an alley and it will lead you into a lush courtyard. The city never ends.

The children are attentive. In their strollers they stand, rarely is a child lying motionless, they engage in the city.

Bikers trek to and from their day's activities and the only bike lock you need is the one on your rear tire. If you leave your wallet in the basket of your bike (I have) it will most likely be there until your return. If you want to go to Sweden and want to bring your bike, you can.

Go to a park, go shopping, go to a market, go see a free live show with friends... You can do it all in Copenhagen within a day. Take these summer nights, live life like a Dane - live happy and live freely.
